Defined-Period Income & Mortgage Protection

Protect the years when your income matters most.

When a family depends on your earnings, a mortgage has decades remaining, or children are headed toward college, your protection need is critical without necessarily being permanent. Term Life provides maximum death-benefit coverage for a defined period—giving your family security at an affordable, level rate.

A simpler first step: Tell Eric what could be financially disrupted and how long the concern may last. You do not need to know the benefit amount or term before you book.

When is Term Life the most sensible choice?

Term Life is designed specifically for financial obligations that have an expiration date:

01

Income Replacement

Providing replacement earnings so your spouse and children can maintain their living standard and home if you pass away during working years.

02

Mortgage Payoff

Ensuring your Texas family can extinguish mortgage debt immediately rather than being forced to relocate during an emotionally vulnerable time.

03

College & Childcare

Funding tuition, room, board, and daycare expenses through your children’s graduation milestones without draining existing retirement funds.

04

Business Guarantees

Satisfying SBA loan requirements or protecting partners against financial disruption if a co-owner or key executive dies prematurely.

Term Durations

Choosing the right term length for your plan.

Level term policies fix your premium so it never increases during the selected duration:

10-Year Term

Best for short-term obligations, final stages of debt repayment, or bridging the gap to retirement.

15-Year Term

Matches 15-year fixed mortgages or provides income protection while children grow through high school.

20-Year Term

The most popular duration for new parents, protecting household income until infants reach early adulthood.

30-Year Term

Locks in level premiums for 3 decades, perfectly matching a new 30-year home purchase or long-term family obligations.

Buyer Guidance

Frequently asked questions about Term Life.

What happens when my policy term ends?
At the end of your initial level-premium term (such as 20 years), coverage does not necessarily cancel automatically. Most policies allow annual renewal, though the premium will increase significantly based on your attained age. Alternatively, you may let the policy expire, or exercise your contractual conversion privilege before the deadline to convert to permanent coverage.
How do carriers determine my Term Life premium?
Premiums are based on your age, biological sex, tobacco use, medical history, family health background, build (height and weight), and lifestyle factors. Eric compares multiple carriers because different insurers evaluate health factors like blood pressure or family history under different underwriting guidelines.
Can I convert my Term policy to permanent coverage if my health worsens?
Yes, if your policy includes a contractual conversion privilege. This feature allows you to exchange your term coverage for an eligible permanent policy (like Whole Life or Universal Life) up to a specified age without providing evidence of insurability or taking a new medical exam. Eric ensures your policy includes strong conversion options.
Is the death benefit taxable to my beneficiaries?
Under Internal Revenue Code § 101(a), death benefits received by designated beneficiaries from a life insurance policy are generally exempt from federal income taxation. However, estate tax rules may apply to very large estates, and interest paid on delayed benefits is taxable. Fortify360 does not provide tax advice; consult your CPA or tax attorney.
Can a stay-at-home parent obtain Term Life insurance?
Yes. Stay-at-home parents provide immense financial value through child care, household management, and transportation. Most carriers allow substantial term coverage for non-working spouses (often up to 50%–100% of the working spouse’s coverage amount) without requiring earned income.
